ABOUT US

Abbots Model Engineering was born in 2005 when we decided to build a Class 66 "Freightliner" loco, completed in 2006 this loco has clocked up over 1000 miles and many hundreds of hours running around The Telford Model Engineering Society track adjacent to The Telford Steam Railway at Horsehay, Telford, it has also visited many other tracks around the country.

This model has proven to be extremely reliable and has not been affected in any way by the inclement weather experienced in this country, even though it has had many a soaking.

This project inspired us to design and develop other items for use on the track, and, the past 2½ years has been devoted to just that.

During this time modifications have been made to the "66" which now has a 4mm Laser cut steel frame and the original bogies have been replaced with 6mm Laser cut steel.

My webmaster decided it would be a good idea to have a pic of myself on the website, with some degree of reluctancy, due to increasing greyness and decreasing hair, I gave in. HA HA HA! so here we go, a little about me!

My name is Peter Grigg, with a lifelong interest in trains and around 20 years of engineering experience I decided to marry the two together and at last do something which I enjoy doing, sometimes my wife thinks I love my trains more than I do her.

Our collection of loco's and rolling stock is constantly growing, with new items coming on line regularly I hope you enjoy our products as much as we do.

We have also designed, built, and thoroughly tested Bogies, Hoppers, Container Wagons, Passenger Trucks, Driving Trucks, Well Wagon Chasis, Wagon Chasis, and a Railbus, most of which are based on a 6mm Laser cut steel chassis, we have also built an RHTT Track Cleaner. We will also have a new 66 "GBRf" loco all of which we intend to launch at Harrogate

Although we have had our web site up and running since August 2007 our real aim was to launch AME at the National Model Engineering & Modelling Exhibition 2008. This we did with great success
